Healing a new tattoo/piercing correctly is extremely important. Follow these instructions unless otherwise specified by your artist. Absolutely NO swimming, tanning, gym, or any activity that will damage the healing process. Touch-ups are NOT free when the healing process is hindered by negligence.
Tattoos
Dry Healing: Upon leaving the shop your tattoo will be bandaged. Leave the bandage on no longer than 1 hour.
- Slowly remove bandage. Using clean hands gently wash your tattoo with anti bacterial soap.
- Rinse and let air dry. (10-15 minutes).
- Wrap tattooed area with plastic.
- Repeat this process 3-5 times a day for only 3 days.
- After the 3 days switch to an unscented lotion. Lotion often, whenever your tattoo feels tight or dry.
Healing with Ointment: Upon leaving the shop your tattoo will be bandaged. Leave the bandage on no longer than 1 hour.
- Slowly remove bandage. Using clean hands gently wash your tattoo with anti bacterial soap.
- Rinse and let air dry. (10-15 minutes).
- Using clean hands apply a thin protective coating of Aquaphor.
- Repeat this process 3-5 times a day for only 3 days.
- After the 3 days switch to an unscented lotion. Lotion often, whenever your tattoo feels tight or dry.
Piercings
Piercings should be washed twice daily, everyday, for the entire initial healing time.
Recommended Cleaning Solutions: Liquid Dial Anti-Bacterial Soap(without perfumes or dyes), Bactine, Non-Iodized Sea Salt or Saline Solution.
- Before cleaning, wash hands thoroughly with liquid Dial and hot water.
- Re-lather and apply soap to the entire area. Cleanse the area and the jewelry.
- Rinse the area thoroughly under running water while rotating the jewelry back and forth to completely remove the cleanser from the inside and outside of the piercing.
- Gently pat dry with disposable paper towel.
- Apply Bactine all around piercing.
Oral Piercings (lips, labrets, etc.)
Repeat same external care. For the internal portion, including tongue piercings, rinse with a mixture of half Listerine and half water. Rinse every time you eat, drink, smoke, or if anything comes in contact with your mouth. For swelling use ice water and ibuprofen.
